My car was deemed a total loss

I waited over a month to get my car to a auto body shop…I finally got a appointment and now they said it’s a loss..I can’t believe it! Will I be able to get another opinion or will I have to take the loss?? I believe I can get it repaired cheaper than what the shop said…Do I have that option to take it somewhere else?? My car runs fine, it’s a fender crease and clips that hold the fender a few snapped…I still cannot believe it..I’m getting mixed answers…Some say the insurance company will want a second quote instead of paying out more money..I think the body shop already told the ins. co. the cost to repair? If I have to take the loss, will I lose my registration or can I keep the car and fix with the money?? I don’t know how that works..
