So when diesel prices go up, so does everything we buy. Today, the average gallon of diesel is $5.19, just 50 cents shy of its all-time high peak this past summer. So Tipp Insights asked voters: What should government do to alleviate the diesel shortage? The number 1 answer was: Encourage more drilling and refining of oil. Unfortunately, the American people are much smarter than the people who run our country.
