ACD.net is a broadband company that has fiber networks throughout lower Michigan. We are headquartered in Lansing, MI and most of our employees are here. In order to provide fiber optic services we deploy fiber aggregation cabinets that exist near the side of the road. They are basically big metal boxes with a bunch of network equipment on them. We also have wireless equipment on utility poles. We are expanding services to various cities in Northern Michigan and would like to work people that are local to the area. We are looking for a licensed electrician to perform inspections and finalize hookups with local power companies and if desired to perform some of the electrical work to build out our cabinets. However, we also have employees that do that labor work often and can do the grunt work, and send you a full photography set of all work done. While we are familiar with electrical setups, we are not liscenced electricians and want all work inspected by a professional. This type of stuff is not heavily time dependent, we can work around your schedule. We have locations in Mt. Pleasant, Boyne, Cheboygan and Big Rapids that we will need assistance with from a professional electrician. We are also looking for someone that can be On-Call for emergencies to get a first hand assessment of storm and other damage to our network that is up north. Additionally, if you are interested in becoming knowledgeable communication networks, we also need people that can swing by certain locations during outages and give us an early report of any infrastructure damage, or the extent of power outages. For example when the tornado went through Gaylord a few months ago, our fiber network was damaged) which was on most of the power poles), having someone there right after the outage is helpful and keeping an eye on restoration progress for the power lines so we can fix our fiber, is helpful. We usually pay a monthly on-call fee just for availability. If you are looking for a part time or retirement gig here and there that may be ideal. For the electrical work, we can pay by the hour or by the job, or whatever you think is reasonable. If you have an interest either of these, please give me a call.
