It's that time of year again! Join the Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and Alexandria Spokeswomen for a free, family-friendly bike ride or walk around Del Ray.
The residents of lovely Del Ray put on a great holiday light show every year, and we plan to see it on bike or on foot!
The bike ride will start at the traffic circle at the south end of Main Line Boulevard, just off the Potomac Yard trail (directly behind or east of GW Middle School). It's 0.25 miles from the Braddock Road metro station.
Riders of all ages and abilities are welcome, and we'll wait to regroup if we get separated. Children and youth are welcome, but we ask that children younger than 10 be accompanied by an adult.
This registration is for the bike ride. If you'd prefer to walk instead, please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/twelfth-annual-alexandria-holiday-lights-ride-walk-tickets-472320020897.
Helmets and bike lights are required. Bonus points if you decorate your bike or yourself with holiday lights! Please also bring water and whatever else you need for a leisurely, 90-minute roll.
The route is about 5 miles, very flat, and on neighborhood streets. Although we'll be staying on low-traffic streets, all riders need to be able to control their bikes and follow directions.
For everyone's health and safety, we'll be taking the following precautions:
-- asking everyone to self-screen and not attend if they've experienced symptoms of covid or been exposed to a known covid case recently
-- breaking into smaller groups for the ride
-- keeping an eye on local covid conditions, and cancelling the event if needed
