01 December, 2022

Description

In this interactive workshop, members of the Lobo Language Acquisition Lab will discuss research findings regarding linguistic variation, multilingualism, and linguistic bias. We will also discuss ways in which linguistic bias has affected our own lives and our educational systems, and together we will consider how to avoid these biases in our classrooms. In order to receive the $50 stipend, you will need to complete the entire workshop and complete an evaluation at the end of the workshop. The session will not be recorded for later viewing. If you are in Albuquerque, the training will be held in-person in the large training/conference room at the admin building on Candelaria. If you are working in Taos or Rio Arriba and wish to participate, please let Patricia Rodríguez know as soon as possible so we can plan for you to participate virtually. Everyone who attends the training in Albuquerque will need to be masked for the full 2 hours. We will have masks and hand sanitizer available at the sign in table.
