Description

The Dallas Fulbright Association will join a team from Break Bread/Break Boarders to share an immersive food experience in the afternoon of December 17, 2022. The program will feature a “simulation activity” based on the challenges immigrants experience in meeting basic necessities as they relocate to the Dallas/North Texas area. A meal, prepared by the members of BB/BB, will be shared, featuring items from the women’s home countries. There will be lots of opportunity for interaction as the topics of food insecurity, food and culture, employment opportunities, and community support for refugee families are discussed. Break Bread/Bread Borders is a social enterprise with the goal of empowering refugee women as they share their food, culture, and resettlement experiences, and develop skills for employment. The program is a special event for Fulbright Association members. The event is funded, in part, by a grant from the U.S. Department of State through the national Fulbright Association, a gift from a donor, and the generosity of Break Bread/Break Borders. Seating is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis through December 10, 2022 . A $22 to Break Bread/Break Borders will be required to secure your seat. Payment instructions will be provided upon registration. Questions? You can reach us at: [email protected]
