The Texas African American Museum under the auspices of Empowerment Community Development Corporation will be hosting our FREE Open House in conjunction with The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday January 18, 2021
10:00am to 3:00pm
The Open House and MLK, Jr. Holiday observance will be held at the Texas African American Museum new location, 309 W MLK BLVD. Tyler, Texas 75702.
Gloria Washington, Executive Director of the museum is inviting each and everyone to come out and help us celebrate this day of history in our city and community.
Our keynote speaker is Reverend, Dr. Orenthia Mason of Tyler, Texas.
Special Guest Singers, Ms. Verlinda Stanton of Dallas, Texas and Mr. Demerick Tezino of Tyler, Texas.
There will be a short symbolic march on the museum property before the ceremony begins.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00am and ends at 3:00pm
We’re asking all to follow Covid-19 health guidelines. Wearing a mask is required.
There will also be a Drive - By Fundraiser for those that are not able to attend
Food Trucks will be on site.
Our purpose is to continue to preserve and educate the community about our history.
