We will go through how the good leader, bad boss analogy applies to dog training, and how to apply it daily with your pup. Boss vs Leader Boss Have you ever had to work for a bad boss? How hard that was that? (Shhh…we won’t tell them). How motivated do you feel when you have a demanding, unreasonable boss? Do you work because you HAVE to, but you would you rather being doing anything else? Most people do not want to be associated with the "Bad Boss" title. Leader In contrast think about a great leader you have had in your life. Think about the positive influence they had on you, and their natural ability to motivate you to do your best. What are the characteristics of a good leader? * Excellent communication * Clear and fair expectations * Motivates and creates an environment for learning and growing. We can create that same leadership style for our dogs, and we owe them that much! We bring them into our human world and have gotten into the habit of wishing they were the "ideal" dog or having unrealistic expectations.
