Description
Join Compass Point home of Dirty Girl Adventures on Saturday December 10th, 2022 for wildlife viewing and several short hikes at the Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge just past St. Joseph in Northwest Missouri. This is an amazing place to visit at any time, but it is extra special at this time of year as migratory birds visit. We will see SO MANY BIRDS! We are likely to see, at a minimum, some Trumpeter Swans, Snow geese, ducks of all types and American Bald Eagles - a record 662 bald eagles were counted during a 2020 survey! We will meet at the Welcome Center and venture from there for hiking and wildlife viewing. We plan to hike the Eagle Overlook Trail which is 1.2 miles out and back with a viewing tower, as well as several other short trails available at the Refuge. Denise and Jennifer will be on hand throughout the event to provide information about the species that we see. When we’re done, we can all take the driving tour at our own pace. We will connect participants via email to facilitate carpooling and more time together for connection! CHECK IN TIME AT LOESS BLUFFS WELCOME CENTER: 1:00pm BRING/WEAR: Camera, binoculars or a monocular - Open spaces mean it will possibly be cold and windy so plan for LAYERS, sturdy shoes/boots, hat/gloves Regular cost: $30 Club cost: $25 What are you paying for? Dirty Girl Adventures, LLC will organize the event, provide a guide, support on the trail and docent information throughout the event. We will paddle and hike in cool, rainy or snowy conditions. Cancellation only occurs in severe weather or other dangerous conditions.
