Description

The benefits of access to higher education for people with justice-involvement are well-documented. These include: encouraging greater civic participation, providing better economic opportunities, and offering them the opportunity to create supportive social networks. Yet, many institutions, including Indiana University, have created barriers to entry for formerly incarcerated individuals that discourage them from even applying, including requiring them to disclose any prior charges or convictions. Join us at this one day workshop to learn more about the benefits of higher education for formerly incarcerated individuals, and to find out what we can do collectively to help serve the educational needs of this population.
