ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Film @ The Carr Center, in partnership with The Fearless Tribe of Fanatic Filmmakers and Trinity Film Entertainment Groups present an evening of 8 award winning independent films from African American Filmmakers who are doing their passionate work inside the urban centers of Detroit, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Atlanta. This collaboartion is the first film centered programming to be offered at the new Carr Center Performance Studio, located at 15 E. Kirby Street in the heart of Detroit's midtown cultural center. The screenings will be followed by a Q/A meet and greet with the filmmakers. The 8 films being screened are: Blackness is Everything : Director Alba Roland Mejia If These Locs Could Talk : Director Jahbrielle Henning Alchemy : Directors Zania Cummings and Cariena Yard Voicemail : Director Roe Dayzon Puppy Love : Director Darren Heard Sons of Toledo :Director Monty Cole Wali & Zuri : Director Derrick Woodyard Leave Us Here :Director Tari Wariebi The Fearless Tribe of Fanatic Filmmakers, is a project that elevates the stories made by African American film creatives. The project has showcased 100's of film works to audiences in Detroit and abroad. They have screened films in theaters, but also in more innovative settings such as art galleries, college campuses, museums, and community/neighborhood spaces. They are diligently focused on activating opportunities for African American Filmmakers to have a resounding voice and a platform to share their film projects. Trinity Film Entertainment Group was co-founded by Lazar and Marshalle Favors. They have had a lifelong commitment to working purposefully to contribute to the sustainability and economic growth of the film community in Metro Detroit.
