To support rising local filmmakers and storytellers in Maui, Hawai’i, creative media students, Shyla Orquia and Faith Christy Soliven, are hosting a fundraising dinner sponsored by Nalukai Foundation and HI SOUP. The event will take place on December 17th from 5 pm - 7 pm HST at the Maui High School Library (see map below). Following the meal, three local filmmakers selected through a collaborative judging process will present their creative briefs for attendees. Attendees will vote as presenters compete for a share of the proceeds.
A ticket, which costs $20, will earn you a meal and a ballot for you to cast a vote for your favorite pitch. We are thrilled to say that 100% of the proceeds collected from ticket sales will go towards the presenters and that the first $1,000 raised by attendees will be graciously matched by Nalukai and HI SOUP. Our first-place winner will be awarded 50% of the proceeds, with the other 50% being split between the next two presenters. Our goal is to raise around $1,000 through ticket sales, thus we anticipate the winning presenter will receive approximately $1,000 and second and third-place presenters will receive approximately $500, respectively. It’s our mission to create a space where local storytellers can engage with their communities and pursue film and video in Hawai’i.
We sincerely hope you can join us - RSVP here to reserve your spot!
