In the introduction we will discuss what enrichment based grooming is and why it is so important during the grooming process. We will discuss the benefits for both the pet and pet professional emotionally, physically, and emotionally and how it guides in relationship building . What are we saying? Just as we watch the pets in our care they are watching us. We want to be aware of the signals we are sending to our four legged friends. From the initial greeting, movements, and touch we want to be mindful of what we are saying and communicating to the pets in our care. We will also talk about how our mindset plays a crucial part in the enrichment delivery. What are they saying? As pet care professionals learning canine body language is a crucial part of creating a safe and healthy environment. We will go over basic canine body language that will guide the pet handler on what the pet may be communicating to you. By being aware of what their body language is saying we can respond with proper techniques and activities to help make positive connections with the pets in our care. Tools, Techniques, and Activities What can we use and how can we use it? There are so many tools at our disposal. We are going to learn what they are and how to implement them into the bathing, drying, and pre grooming process. You are going to learn how to handle pets that can be scared, elderly, puppies, aggressive, and overstimulated and how to create that positive experience. Bath and prep time sets the tone for the pet and what they can expect for the duration of their time in your salon and facility. We will talk about how first impressions last even for pets and how to give a great first impression.
