Description
Looking for a job that takes you outside the box? Consider working with a sharp young adult man on the autism spectrum who enjoys a variety of activities in Asheville and WNC. As his hiking and activity partner, you will be outdoors in all kinds of weather, spend time downtown and hang out together in his home. Over time, you will build a foundation of trust and mutual respect.
The best match for this position will have a positive and flexible attitude, plenty of energy for active pursuits and shared interests with the employer. No personal or medical care tasks are necessary for this individual. The job is best suited for current residents of WNC rather than those interested in relocating to the area, since the need is immediate.
We offer:
- Competitive pay and bonuses.
- Approximately 20 hours per week on a regular schedule consisting of two weekdays (Tuesday and Thursday) and one weekend shift.
- Use of the employer’s vehicle for trips together during work time.
Basic requirements include:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- A current driver's license and a good driving record.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site in East Asheville.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Willingness and ability to engage in outdoor activities.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Nerdy interests such as science fiction, fantasy, tabletop role playing games, movies and novels.
- Capacity for discussion on intellectual topics such as STEM, history, politics and more.
- Experience with neurodiversity.
Due to dogs in the employer’s home and the employer’s preference, this is not a bring-your-dog-to-work position.
Please tell us something about yourself and why this position appeals to you in a cover note; also please include a resume or work history. We look forward to hearing from you!
