Position Overview This is a temporary position at a growing and successful worker-owned cooperative with the strong likelihood of becoming permanent. We are looking for Shop Assistants to join our team. This is an entry level position, but some experience working in a shop is preferred. Position requires some travel and the ability to work as part of a team and independently. Shop assistants provide support to shop workers. This includes assistance moving materials, helping setup work spaces, and cleaning up. This also includes some amount of sanding and/or other entry level fabrication tasks. This position has the opportunity to learn basic woodworking skills over time and grow into a shop worker. Strong work ethic and organization skills are a must. All the details: Job Duties *Assist shop workers in all aspects of fabrication *Maintain a clean working environment *Handling and moving materials and finished products *Follow all CDC, state, and local guidance for COVID-19 best practices. Qualifications Required *Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. *Most work is during normal business hours, but occasional work out-of-area and/or outside of business hours is required. Bonus *Ability to use basic hand tools: hammer, speed square, level, skilsaw, screw gun, sander, etc *Experience building millwork. *Knowledge of general construction site rules and procedures. Physical Demands *Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted *Frequent lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted *Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling Compensation *Full-time, starting at $18-$22/hr, depending on experience. Pay is subject to regular review and raises. *Mileage reimbursement Additional Compensation if/when position becomes permanent *Paid time off *Ownership track for equal profit sharing within 2 years *Professional development opportunities
