Join us for our December West Side Association Meeting with guest speaker Rick Helms. Rick will speak about his involvement with the Oshkosh Celebration of Lights. Rick Helms is currently the expo manager for Sunnyview Expo Center – he provides supervision to all full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff assigned to the Sunnyview Exposition Center and Parks System facilities. Assists in operational planning and scheduling functions. Performs repair and upkeep related tasks as required in maintaining the Parks Department’s buildings, grounds and equipment. Assists Exposition Center users in set-up and take-down of equipment, prepares buildings for events, acts as liaison between users of the Exposition Center and the Parks Department. Participates in pre-event planning meetings with clients of the Exposition Center. Plays a major role in providing coverage for off-hour emergencies dealing with Parks System and Exposition Center facilities. Supports the Assistant Parks Director and Program Manager in the oversight of work performed by contractors and other service providers at the Exposition Center and throughout the Parks System. Assists with both short and long term planning efforts for the Exposition Center and the Parks System by suggesting and recommending improvements and the necessity of such, including grounds design and drainage specifications. Rick is also active with the Oshkosh collegiate DECA program, provides security during AirVenture, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 70, Oshkosh Celebration of Lights, Winnebago Pet Expo, Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall, just to name a few. Rick has multiple degrees from FVTC, and believes in giving back to his community – which he does on a daily basis.
