Description
We just lost our dog, Leon, yesterday late afternoon. We were taking him and his sister out for a walk when he pulled very suddenly and yanked the leash out of our hands. We live near downtown Chaska, and we know he got into the woods and on the trails on the SW side of 41, between downtown and 169. We searched for hours well into the dark but had to turn back eventually. We’ll search more tomorrow, make some calls, and get some posters up, but would be so grateful if others could be on the lookout too and give us a call if seen.
He’s a 7 year old Shiba Inu, about 22 lbs, with almost German shepherd like coloring (see photo). Very loved but still very skittish, as he spent his whole life in a puppy mill before being obtained by a rescue a couple months ago and then getting adopted by us in mid-October. We don’t recommend chasing or calling to him, though he may be responsive to treats (it took a couple weeks of calmness, no eye contact, and just constant dropping of treats for him to be comfortable approaching us). He also loves other dogs, so may be more likely to approach if you have a calm, friendly dog with you. He was still wearing his martingale collar with a blue leash attached when he escaped.
We are so worried and desperately hope we can bring him home safely. If seen, please call Megan at
