Description

Throughout the current uprising turned revolution in Iran, we’ve seen various forms of protest and solidarity in the diaspora — from sharing stories and footage to storming the streets in rallies and marches. Baraye Azadi will be an evening where we resist through art, food and joy, and celebrate the unparalleled warmth and beauty of Iran’s culture as we work to reaffirm, in the words of Edward Said, “the power of culture over the culture of power.” Baraye Azadi will be hosted by Iranian artist/activist Sepideh Moafi (Apple TV+ Black Bird, Showtime The L Word: Generation Q) and will feature top artists, musicians, chefs, and dancers for an exploration of Iran through the senses. An evening of live music and dance, poetry readings, performance art, guest speakers, including special recorded appearances by activists on the ground in Iran. Prepare to be moved!
