United Way of Northern California is hosting a film screening of From the Quarters to Lincoln Heights, a documentary by Mark Oliver, that tells the story of how an African-American community came to be in Weed, CA, migrating from the south in the 1920's.
Known as the oldest African American settlement west of the Mississippi, 75% of this historic community was destroyed in the Mill Fire in September 2022, killing two people and devastating the community.
This showing is in downtown Redding at the beautifully renovated Riverfront Playhouse. Come for the film, connect with the community, support the recovery, and enjoy the complimentary food and wine. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
