MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — Registration for coronavirus vaccine appointments at the Hard Rock Stadium, a new state-run vaccination site, in Miami Gardens, began Friday at 8 a.m., according to the Miami-Dade County COVID-19 vaccine webpage. For the next seven days, 1,000 appointments will be available at the site each day. To register, residents 65 and older should call 888-499-0840. Additional registration options will be available soon. Walk-in appointments will not be accepted at the site. Those who don't have appointments are asked to not show up at the Hard Rock Stadium to get one. "We understand demand for the vaccine is high, and we are doing everything possible to provide additional appointments pending more vaccine being allocated by the federal government," the county said. Miami-Dade County residents and visitors have other options for finding a COVID-19 vaccine, as well. Starting Friday, Baptist Health is booking 12,000 vaccination time slots for people 65 and older and high-risk members of the community. Vaccinations will take place at the Hilton Miami Dadeland at 9100 North Kendall Drive in Miami. Those interested can sign up for an appointment online here. Mount Sinai Medical Center is also distributing coronavirus vaccines — both Pfizer and Moderna — to first responders and people 75 and older. To schedule an appointment through Mount Sinai, call 305-674-2312 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. No walk-ins are accepted. Leon Medical Center is also reportedly vaccinating its patients, as well as their front line workers. The medical center has a page dedicated to coronavirus information. On Tuesday, Jackson Health System launched its online registration platform, booking 12,000 vaccination appointments. As of Friday morning, they don't have any available doses or appointments, but will open registration as they receive additional shipments of vaccine. Miami-Dade County is also providing vaccines directly to homebound seniors 65 and older who live in county facilities or receive county services. The county will contact these individuals directly to schedule vaccinations. According to state guidance, the first three groups to receive the coronavirus vaccine in Florida are long-term care facility residents and staff, health care works who have direct contact with COVID-19 patients, and people 65 and older. The county will also offer vaccines to seniors 65 and older as doses are made available.
