ANDOVER, MA — Nearly seven percent of Andover coronavirus tests have been positive over the last two weeks, according to the latest state report.
The town had a 6.9 percent positive test rate, up from 5.8 percent last week, and 286new cases over the last two weeks, up from 250. Andover remains a high-risk community for the virus.
According to town data, Andover has had 1,645 cumulative cases, as of Friday. There are 200 active cases and 103 residents have died.
The latest state town-by-town report designated 219 cities and towns as high risk for the coronavirus in the latest community-level report Thursday, putting nearly two-thirds of the state's 351 communities in the red category.
The statewide positive test rate fell to 7.8 percent, down from 8.7 percent on Jan. 1 but still above the level a month ago, 6.2 percent.
There were 7,136 new confirmed cases and 71 deaths Thursday.
