Join Museum Founders Gerald and Elaine Yagen for our Holiday Hangar Concert and Book Signing at the Military Aviation Museum. Featuring a performance of favorite holiday tunes from Symphonic Artistry amongst our Warbirds and an opportunity to have your copy of Bravo Zulu: My Search to Save Classic Warbirds signed by the author, Gerald Yagen. This event is free to the public, and will be held on Sunday December 4th, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The concert performance will begin at 5:30pm. Books may be purchased in advance through Eventbrite, and will also be available for purchase at the event. The Museum store will be open to provide you an opportunity to make additional holiday gift purchases. Although the concert is free, and walk-ups are accepted, please help us out by pre-registering on Eventbrite so our staff and volunteers can make sure to set enough chairs for everyone! Concert Performance by Symphonic Artistry A regular fixture at several Museum events, Symphonic Artistry was started in January 2008 by three musicians with a dream. Heath and Beverley Losick and Christie Vtipil had two goals in mind, to help high school musicians who have the dream of continuing their musical education, and to improve the local amateur cultural performance arts scene. Symphonic Artistry began with only 8 members and has since grown to more than 40 members. Symphonic Artistry helps promising young musicians by mentoring them and making connections within the community and local university music programs. They also offer local university music students the opportunity to obtain additional conducting experience so they may hone their skills in preparation for the classroom. Their repertoire includes Sousa Marches, Big Band Classics, Broadway and Movie Favorites, and of course, some Traditional Concert Band Symphonic Standards. If you have any comments, wish to join them, or are interested in having Symphonic Artistry play for you, please contact Heath or Beverley Losick on 757-408-5794 or at [email protected]. You may also contact them and keep appraised of their performance schedule via their website www.symphonicartistry.org. Bravo Zulu: My Search to Save Classic Warbirds - An ideal Christmas gift for any aviation enthusiast! Established from the largest private collection of vintage warplanes in the US, the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, is a time capsule of aviation in the 20th century with an emphasis on World War II. Bravo Zulu is an account of this brainchild of celebrated collector Jerry Yagen and his wife Elaine. These pages recall some of the most exciting war stories ever told and some of the most famous airplanes of all time—from Replica Fokker Dr. I triplanes built to resemble those flown by the Red Baron to painstakingly restored original combat veteran aircraft like the Messerschmitt Bf 109 and Supermarine Spitfire, the collection includes many of the most iconic historic aircraft. Bravo Zulu was created to bring the stories that surround this incredible collection to life, beautifully illustrated with images of the Museum aircraft in flight, this book is the perfect way to experience the collection if you cannot visit the museum. Bravo Zulu recalls the tales of the tireless searches for and restorations of each remarkable plane, which the Yagens dedicated themselves to collecting and sharing with the world.
