Description

1/7/23 - 10a - 12p How the Hell can Yoga Help Lifting? : Yoga for Lifters As someone interested in muscle growth and feeling like a badass when you slam something heavy or press weight overhead, yoga might not come to mind as something that will help you become a better lifter or athlete. You’re already good at getting gritty and enjoy the process of work. You understand there’s no quick fixes and that time, repetition and attention to detail make a difference. Yoga only enhances your capacity as you build body awareness, flexibility, mobility, stability and move in all planes of motion. In this workshop, we will explore a yoga flow that targets both upper and lower body joints and tissues that are common targets while training. The goal is to feel better so you’ll be able to keep moving in ways that bring you joy. We’ll also explore yoga poses through the lens of refining your lifting form. A yoga practice, while its own kind of challenge, also provides breathing exercises and restorative postures that are instrumental in mental capacity and nervous system regulation. 1/7/23 - 1p - 3p Strength Makes Flow More Fun : Strength for Yogis There’s always something else to learn and no cap on the variety of postures and transitions in a yoga practice. It’s part of what makes it fun! Plus, progress is addicting! When you add lifting weights into your movement schedule, the ability, ease and grace to move through flow increases. If lifting weights feels foreign or you’re wanting to build competence, this will be your party. Rather than just flexibility focused, this workshop will explore weight-training through a yoga lens. We’ll use common yoga postures and speak to lifting weights in a way that strengthens those tissues that are usually just lengthened in the practice. You’ll leave with a full-body workout plan and big stoke to expand your capacity. 1/8/23 - 9a - 11a A Flow to Build Strength and Grace When I think of power, it’s the control of strength in a way that appears graceful. This is built through repetition and a curiosity about detail. Yes, it’s work, but if it’s not also play, we are doing something wrong. We will find the edge in this practice where work and play meet. This kind of practice can’t not make you feel powerful in your body. This class is an introduction to Bonnie’s teaching style focused on how strength, grace, and flow link with breath. This workshop includes a breath-pace peak flow with scaled options. We will find alignment and then move through all planes of motion. There will be time for community questions as well. Come as you are. 1/8/23 - 12p -2p Yoga Teacher Circle As leaders in our communities, yoga teachers have a big impact in the daily lives of students and peers. When we come together to hone our teaching, leadership and personal awareness skills, we elevate the industry. Bring your mat and a notebook. We’ll explore sequencing together and create space for conversation around being leaders, storytellers and movers. Bio : Bonnie Weeks Combining personal training knowledge with yoga tradition, Bonnie is always exploring the intersection of movement disciplines and the way they compliment and enhance each other. She's not your typical yogi and her style feels like part yoga, part dance and part brain games. She invites you to explore the mat in ways that are non-traditional in their strength and circular patterns. Bonnie believes that yoga is the practice of paying attention and that extends much further than the physical practice. Coming from Portland, Oregon, she's ready to play.
