ᏏᏲ ᏂᎦᏓ! ᎠᏥᎸ ᎤᏅᏓᏒ ᏧᏍᏗ ᏗᎦᏅᏅ ᏔᎵ ᏗᎦᏋᏗ ᏗᏓᎩᎸᏔᏂ ᎥᏍᎩᏱ ᏦᎢᏁ. Bring your ugliest sweater and ride bikes with us at Fire Mountain Trails! This is an affinity ride for people of all genders who identify as BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, or person of color). Please only register for this ride if you identify as BIPoC. A limited number of bikes will be available to borrow for folks who need one--please indicate if you need one when you register. We will do our best to provide a bike for each rider who needs one. Register for one of the group rides below: Beginner Approx. 4.5 miles with 450 ft climbing. Lower loop with parts of Tinker’s Dream, Lazy Elk, Spearfinger, Waya, and Uktena. Frequent stops and a slow pace. Skills / Experience Required: Basic balance and control of the bike including braking and changing gears, plus some practice of neutral position, ready/attack position, braking (one finger/gentle pressure) and level pedals. Endurance Required: Ability to ride at least 5 miles on green XC single track in 1.5 hours with a few short breaks. Intermediate Approx. 6-7 miles with 800-1000 ft of climbing. Full climb to Ravens Roost shelter at the top utilizing all of Uktena; some tech, rock gardens, sharp corners, slow climb with occasional stops. The group can descend Spearfinger, which is a long flow trail to the bottom shelter, The Overlook. Advanced Approx 7-9 miles with 1000 ft +/- of climbing. Full climb at steady pace to the top crossing Tinker's Dream to The Overlook, then continuing up Lazy Elk, Spearfinger to Ravens Roost. Occasional stops to regroup at intersections. The group can go down Kessel or Uktena, OR dealers' choice. Please note that the trails will not be closed to the public, so be on the lookout for other riders. Fire Mountain will host a social gathering after the ride! They will provide hot dogs and chips, and participants can BYOB. Donations aren’t required, but much appreciated to continue the mountain biking community building offered at Fire Mountain Trails. Motion Makers is our local bike shop. Fuel or bike needs can be picked up there before the ride, depending on hours of operation in the off-season. May want to come fully prepared for the ride. Check the weather ahead of the ride and dress accordingly! Bring enough layers to add or shed as your temperature changes throughout the ride.
