Description

The intention of this informational Herbalism 101 Workshop is to gather in community and bridge deeper connection with ourselves, each other, and the wild plant world that provides so much nourishment for the body, mind and spirit. The primary focus of this workshop is to present and share main points around the following topics: Foundation & basic principles of Traditional Herbalism, regenerative practices of working with various herbs for daily living, nourishment, self-care, ritual, and healing. The three traditions of healing including the Scientific Tradition, Hero Tradition, and Wise Woman Tradition. I'll share the perspective of each with respect to their different beliefs and views about the body, medicine and approaches to healing.Range of practices available to help one transition from a fast-paced, overstimulated modern lifestyle towards embracing 'earth-pace' - a more harmonious, rooted, regenerative, intentional way of life that is full of deep nourishment and healing. Wild weeds, wild weeds, wild weeds! Bountiful discussion on natural and abundant wild weeds from all over the world and why and how they are healing for the Earth, body and many forms of life. Summary of herbs (aka wild weeds) and traditional uses in preparing teas, overnight infusions, & cooking for supreme nourishment; plants for making home cleaning solutions; plants & herbal remedies such as salves and ointments for the first aid tool-kit; overview of medicinal herbs, traditional uses, and types of medicine making for ingestion; natural herbal ingredients and blends for sacred self-care at home and in ritual. Book recommendations & resources to grow in knowledge of traditional practices, plant wisdom, gardening, regenerative living, etc. During this workshop, it's my hope that you will be able resonate with at least a few discussion points and/or takeaways that inspire you to dig deeper into this rich history of wisdom and connection with the plant world all around us and use the tips and tools provided to help nourish and support a way of life that feels more connected, rooted and more alive to you. (Note that additional workshops for handcrafting herbal based home remedies and earth medicine will likely be scheduled following this foundational workshop for those interested in going further to deepen their insight and experience in the practice of herbalism.) This 2-hour event will include herbal tea & immune boosting herbal soup offerings, brief tour of Kristy's home apothecary & garden, a 1-hour presentation intermingled with opportunities for questions and open discussion. A handout of the presentation slides will also be provided. Event space is limited to 10 people. Following registration, you should receive an email confirmation receipt, providing additional details regarding what to bring, early arrival time, event location specifics, parking information, refund policy, and inclement weather arrangements. I'm greatly looking forward to gathering and sharing this beautiful herbal journey with you and openly discussing your interests and questions related to your personal journey!
