Description
Since 1982, Comprehensive Therapy Center (CTC) has helped neurodiverse children get the therapy they need to walk, talk, learn, and play. We use a holistic, play-based approach that includes resources and activities for families to feel confident and involved in all areas of their child’s growth. Much of this is done through our summer program, Therapy & Fun. While the primary goal of Therapy & Fun is to help children with disabilities keep up with therapy goals during the summer, the program's impact extends to their families and communities. At the event, we will be honoring 3 people who have significantly impacted our organization: Jan Wilks joined Comprehensive Therapy Center (CTC) in 1990 working as the Activity Coordinator for the Therapy and Fun (T&F) program. During her tenure at CTC, she was promoted to Director of Therapy and Fun and moved into the position of Programs Director in 2019. Before working with CTC, Jan taught at Grand Rapids Public School She’s a graduate of Western Michigan University, with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Arts. Jan is married with two adult children and six grandchildren and her interests include spending time with her family and travel. Rodney Martin served CTC for over 25 years as a member of its board and as board president. Rodney has practiced law with Warner Norcross + Judd LLP for over 42 years. Working to support children has been a passion for Rodney. He's also served group facilitator, board member, and board chair of the Youth Development Program at East Grand Rapids High School, as a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts program, and as Program Director for the Gerald R. Ford Council. Supporting CTC was a family affair for Rodney: Both of his children worked as volunteers for Therapy & Fun and were on staff when they were in college. Rodney is an amateur landscape photographer whose work has appeared in national publications and exhibited at the Glen Arbor Art Center. Macie Zack is currently pursuing a Master's degree at Grand Valley State University in Occupational Therapy. CTC played an important role in her professional development and career path. She started volunteering at Comprehensive Therapy Center in 2011 by referral of her mother who works for the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. She volunteered for the summer therapy and fun program for 6 years and worked at CTC for 2 years in 2017 and 2021, While in graduate school, she has continued her involvement with CTC in collaborating on various projects. Macie attended East Grand Rapids High School, and then graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
