The WISH Award is given to a professional who has shown exceptional dedication and leadership in her company or throughout her industry: someone who has made a significant impact and/or participated in a unique safety initiative. The 2022 WISH Award will be presented during the luncheon at the Cleone Peterson Eccles Alumni House at the University of Utah. We will hear from our special guest, Tammy Sloan, and we will honor the winner and the nominees. Lunch will be served. Business casual attire is suggested. Meet Tammy Sloan- Tammy L. Sloan is a retired businesswoman, devoting 35 years in the hospitality business. A native of Ohio, Tammy relocated to Utah in the 80’s to undertake new opportunities and adventures with Utah’s exceptional way of life. With her tireless energy, positive attitude, desire to help others succeed, and combined with worthy business acumen, Tammy advanced her career and led the sales team at Sysco Intermountain as Vice President. Using key metrics to benchmark with best-in-class industry standards, Tammy and her team were the number one distribution company for several years in a row. Tammy is a game changer! Dedicated to serving the community, several people, businesses, and organizations have been impacted greatly by her generosity. As a volunteer board member for the Utah-Idaho Chapter of the the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Tammy has been a tremendous support and advocate for local CF families and the foundation’s mission to develop a cure for CF. In her current role as board member for the Ron McBride Foundation, Tammy is fundamental in providing opportunities for kids from under-represented communities to help them succeed, learn, and have some fun. Tammy loves Utah and the Utah weather, currently residing in Draper. Always volunteering and advocating for the people of Utah, but in her free time Tammy enjoys hiking, reading, and socializing with her friends. Tammy is a proud mother to her son, Rhett Jessop, and was a supportive wife and caretaker to her late husband, Jerry. The mission of the Utah Safety Council's Women in Safety program is to recognize, motivate and support women in the workplace that have chosen or been assigned safety related responsibilities. Women in Safety is a collaborative team that supports women in the safety and health workspace with educational, networking and development opportunities. Members of the organization are committed to encourage, elevate, and give back to women.
