This lovely girl is a foster dog from Jackson County Animal Shelter. She was in the shelter 87 days before I brought her home, most likely because she was a small, scared, black dog at the back of her kennel, not seeking attention. That sure changed when she came home! Beauty is DELIGHTFUL! She loves her crate, and is super responsive to treats and positive training. She clearly had some rough times in her past and will need a gentle household where her confidence can continue to grow. She plays very well with social dogs, but doesn't have the skills (yet) to navigate "rude" dogs. Our cat hates her (because our cat hates all other pets), but I believe with time and the proper introduction, Beauty could live with a dog-savvy cat. Beauty wasn't taught much before coming here, but is so very willing. Once afraid of car rides, she now rides with her cheek on my shoulder. She LOVES my adult daughter who has disabilities and is in a wheelchair. That's pretty rare in our experience. Beauty is about 16 months old and weighs about 35 pounds--the perfect size for road trips, hiking and watching tv! She's been with us about 6 weeks, during which time she was spayed. We'd keep her if our cat wasn't such a butt-head. (but she was here first and we love her) Her adoption is through Jackson Co Animal Shelter in Gautier.
