WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Woodbridge public schools were supposed to return to regular, full-time classes on Jan. 19, but on Thursday night the Board of Education voted to delay the return of in-classroom instruction to March 1. Also, Woodbridge Twp. said it was eager to start vaccinating its 240 police officers and fire fighters. "The Township has received two shipments of 500 Moderna vaccines so far and we are anticipating more doses next week," said Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac on Friday. "We have inoculated 380 people in category 1A with additional sessions scheduled next week." People who live or work in Woodbridge who are in category 1A can call 732-855-0600 extension 5004 to make an appointment to be vaccinated. You will need to show proof of employment. You can also register through the County at: middlesexcountynj.gov/covid19 for other sites in the area. Also, Woodbridge is looking for healthcare workers to help administer the vaccines: Any currently licensed doctor or nurse, active or retired, who wishes to work on a part-time basis with compensation to assist with the vaccine distribution can call the Health Department at: 732-855-0600 extension 5026 and ask for Kim. McCormac also said Woodbridge is still seeing high cases as fall-out from the holidays, with 352 new cases this week: 97 on Monday, 78 on Tuesday, 70 on Wednesday and 107 on Thursday, which is a new daily record. There were three new COVID deaths in Woodbridge this week: A 67-year-old man and women ages 71 and 82.
