Description

6:30 pm Run, 7:30 pm Talk, Q&A, + Book Signing Alison Desir moved to Seattle two years ago and quickly set out to bring our running community together and make it more inclusive. As a co-founder and leader of the Seattle Running Collective, Harlem Run, and Women of Color Take the Lead to name a few, Alison takes action within her communities. Running saved Alison's life. At rock bottom and searching for meaning and structure, she started marathon training, finding that it vastly improved both her physical and mental health. Yet as she became involved in the community and learned its history, she realized that the sport was largely built with white people in mind. In her book, Alison unpacks how we got here and advocates for a world where everyone is free to safely experience the life-changing power of movement.
