Description
The terminal and industrial maintenance operator loads bulk cementitious product into trucks, unloads cementitious products from hopper barges/vessels/railcars into silos, bags cement, and performs general and preventive maintenance on equipment while prioritizing safety. Job Responsibilities Perform only trained and authorized activities in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain terminals, quality control program, and environmental program. Operate unloading equipment to unload bulk cement from vessel, barges, railcars and/or trucks into storage area. Load bulk pneumatic trailers for our customers. Load package cement into flatbeds (if applicable). Verify accuracy of paperwork for incoming/outgoing shipments. Operate and monitor all terminal equipment. Interpret and understand readings on equipment instrumentation panels. Inspect equipment assigned to him/her each shift in accordance with preventive maintenance program. Participate in formal and on-the job training programs to acquire/broaden both technical and non-technical job skills; participate in cross training activities. Interact with team members of terminal on a regular basis to gather or communicate information and proactively solve problems. Work includes manual labor with necessary tools as required or assigned. Ability to drive and operate various mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, bobcat, hi-reach, and other light industrial equipment required. Lead, track and execute preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of the terminal. Troubleshoot breakdowns of equipment; perform and assisting mayor repairs. Qualifications Be able to read, write and speak English (High School Diploma or GED preferred). Basic knowledge about computers and Microsoft Office. Experience or willingness to work in an industrial setting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Terminal and industrial maintenance operator need to communicate with terminal managers, customers, sales personnel, haulers, and suppliers. Ability to operate standard maintenance machines, equipment and powered mechanic tools safely in an industrial environment. Electrical and mechanical knowledge to detect potential safety hazards, breakdown of machinery and equipment. Ability to read technical information contained in manuals, reports, and welding work related instruction, including safety issues and matters. Maintenance, welding, electrical training and/or certifications. Bilingual (Spanish). Working Conditions Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors Must wear protective equipment while at the location Physical Requirements Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree. Heavy Work-Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment. Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls. Able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate extreme temperatures. Frequently required to: walk and climb, walk long distances and perform clean-up of spilled materials.
