MARYLAND — Macy's plans to close three dozen stores nationwide in 2021, including one in Maryland.
The Maryland store slated for closure is at Marlow Heights, according to USA Today. The store is located in Prince George's County.
In Marlow Heights, 81 employees will be out of work by March 14 when the Macy's store closes, the Maryland Department of Labor reported this week. Clearance sales there are expected to begin this month.
The closure will leave Maryland with 14 Macy's stores, according to the company's store directory.

The company will shutter its least productive stores as it optimizes its portfolio and aims to cut costs.
After the announcement in early 2020, the company closed more than two dozen stores, including one Maryland location, in The Centre at Salisbury.
The Marlow Heights store was one of 36 Macy's locations nationwide set to close this spring, along with one Bloomingdale's, USA Today reported.
It is one of three Macy's stores in Prince George's County. The other two — in Bowie Towne Center and The Mall at Prince George's — will remain open.
