In the 18th century, Twelfth Night celebrations occurred on January 6, the final day of the holiday season. The event, also called the Epiphany or Three Kings’ Day, featured a cake with a surprise – a small item, often a bean or coin, was baked inside. The lucky person served the piece of cake that contained the hidden item was crowned the king of Twelfth Night. Fort Ligonier will crown both a king and queen to the gentleman and lady who discover a bean in their delicious piece of Twelfth Night cake featuring Martha Washington’s own recipe. Attendees will enjoy lively music from the Wayward Companions, sing-alongs, English Country dancing with dance caller, Peg Patterson, and a hearty array of colonial treats and spirits Come dressed in your finest 18th century clothing or 21st century cocktail attire for Fort Ligonier’s most festive night of the year!
