Personal Care Assistant
Jobs
Mulford near Harrison, Rockford IL
Description
I am looking to hire someone as a night personal care attendant. I live on the southeast side of Rockford near Cherryvale Mall. I am quadriplegic, male, 49, and have been in a wheelchair since I was 15. This job is pretty simple and specific and not very time consuming. I require someone to help me take some meds, setup my tooth brush, then transfer me from my wheelchair to my bed, undress me, reposition me on my side, connect me to my night bag, cover me up and turn out the lights. The one caveat is I need someone willing to assist me between 11 and 12 at night. I am a night owl, and it would be preferable if you were as well. Pay would be thru the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services. The number of nights you'd work is up to you, and I may hire another person to work the days you do not wish to. I know this job isn’t for everyone, so apply if you’re genuinely interested in helping others, flexible, and able to work at the specified time. I’ve spent a great deal of my life living with this disability, and I have a good idea of the person I am looking for. Here’s the attributes I would prefer: Male. (I have nothing against women. I find that men usually transfer me easier) 25-50 years old Strong, taller is better, but not entirely necessary Previous healthcare experience is appreciated, but not necessary. I’ve worked with many whom had no prior experience. Able to pass a background check (The Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services makes this a prerequisite before I can hire anyone) Reliable transportation is absolutely necessary and something I can’t afford to overlook. This means you own a car and you don't have to share it). A positive outlook on life and a good attitude are also important. Your life shouldn’t be very chaotic, though I understand some chaos as my family can be dysfunctional as well. This requires you take care of yourself. If you don't take care of yourself, how well can you to take care of me? You should possess a solid work ethic and understand I can’t get to bed without your assistance. If you are unmotivated, addicted to texting or social media, periodically arrested, loaded in other commitments, frequently ill, or anything that would interfere with your ability to do this job, please consider before applying. This can be a fun opportunity and possibly even rewarding. We might become good friends, but this can only happen if you respect the job expectations first. If you’ve read all this and I haven’t yet deterred you from in-home healthcare, please email me and tell me something about yourself. Send a resume if you have one. Thank you in advance for viewing this ad. Scott
