Description
EAST HAVEN, CT — Residents often have their own good ideas about how their local government should work. Concerned about blight? Want to have a voice in local health care decisions? On housing? What about zoning? Or preserving historical landmarks?
The East Haven Town Council is asking for volunteers to fill open positions on the AmericanDisabilities Act Commission, the Blight Appeals Committee, the Board of Assessment AppealsCommittee, the Board of Ethics, East Shore Health District representatives, the Housing Authority, the Old Cemetery Board, the School Building Committee, the Board of Selectmen, Urban Renewal Commission, and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
The only qualification to apply for a seat on one of these boards is to be an East Haven resident and registered voter.
The process starts with an emailed, or mailed, letter of intent and resume to the attention of Town Council Administrative Services Committee C/O Chairman Joseph E. Deko at [email protected] or by mail to 250 Main St., East Haven, CT 06512. The deadline is Jan. 22.
According to Deko, resumes will be reviewed and applicants will be interviewed via Zoom. The applicants selected will be contacted, and then appointed, by the East Haven Town Council.
The Town Council encourages all registered voters who are interested in town government to apply, regardless of gender or ethnic background.
