Noche de Ciencias events engage and inspire Hispanic youth (and their parents) to pursue STEM degrees and careers and ultimately advance SHPE’s mission and vision. NdC events are delivered by SHPE Professional and University chapters, and can be offered in conjunction with a SHPE Jr. Chapter. Chapters work with a target school to recruit participants, and NdC events may be hosted at the target school or another venue in the community. Students from UCR will be hosting interactive activies that will showoff their major! If you have any interest in engineering or science this is the perfect event for you to explore that interest. The event will include: STEM Activities/WorkshopsWho we are: The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at UC Riverside is a student-run organization that seeks to empower underrepresented communities. SHPE at UCR inspires the future generation of Hispanics to become the next leaders in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields by providing resources, professional development, and STEM awareness. Our vision is "to see Hispanics as innovators and scientists in the U.S., and eventually the world.” As a student chapter, we believe that academic and outreach success can bring awareness to the Hispanic community to develop the next generation of STEM Hispanic professionals. Giving back to the community is one of the vital steps towards this goal. Our outreach focuses on teaching and inspiring young students so that they are comfortable with STEM subjects and see them as a tangible avenue for a college major and career.
