Mark your calendar: Saturday, Nov. 19th at 10:30 am for the showing of “Havana in World War II” –This film documents the local impact of World War II on Havana and surrounding communities of Gadsden County.  This film draws heavily on the recollections and stories of veterans and citizens who lived in this area and from memories, primary source documents, and artifacts passed through to their descendants. The story of Havana in World War II is told largely through the voices of veterans, their families, and citizens who supported the war effort. Learn how the economic and social aspects of the war impacted the Gadsden County community, as well as how the war affected GIs and civilians, the role of women, and its impact to Black citizens.You are invited to bring memorabilia, keepsakes, medals, etc. of family members who served in the war to share with others.Please share with your friends and family and plan to attend. It will be well worth your time and provides you an opportunity to slow down and meet with others in the beautiful little town of Havana, FL.The showing is at The Shade Tobacco Museum, 204 2nd St. NW, Havana, FL and is presented by the Havana History & Heritage Society.
