What’s a Poverty Simulation, you may ask? It’s a gathering of 100-120 people who get assigned a role – father who is trying to take care of his family while out on medical leave and the car needs a major repair, teenager who doesn’t get why parents finances are interfering with their plans, elder widow who has lost her home, etc. – and each person has to navigate ‘the system’ to secure food, childcare, transportation, shelter and more for one week that is compressed down to just an hour and a half.
It's a powerful experience and really helps more advantage folks understand the challenges of those who do not have adequate resources.
