Kronos Quartet on Recorders?

Description

At 59 I am a geezing punk rocker. I currently play bass in a rock band called Will There Be Aeroplanes (think Superchunk, Replacements, Ramones) and in addition to playing guitar and bass I am a cello student and I dabble with melodica, ukulele, recorder, and keys. I must have been buying guitar strings somewhere and saw a recorder in a display case and thought it would be fun to try and learn to play. I'm sure I fooled about with it for a few days and threw the $8 instrument in a box to waste away for 20 years. A bit over a year ago I dug it out and started learning the notes via online resources. I learned that there were different sizes ie: soprano, alto, tenor, and bass and bought them all. I was studying soprano recorder via video link with a guy in Budapest for a handful of months last year. I have come across a few contemporary composers for the recorder on YouTube including Fumiharu Yoshimine and Namyoung Lee and wondered if anyone in the Washington DC area is doing anything with their recorders that resembles anything other than orchestral music or Hot Cross Buns. The recorder is a much maligned instrument but I love them due to their price and portability. I see a good possibility to have an ensemble performing material similar to Fumiharu Yoshimine, Namyoung Lee, Phillip Glass, and the Kronos Quartet using recorders. Do you know of contemporary composers writing music for the recorder? Let me know about them. Feel free to shoot me an email with your thoughts.
