This individual will serve as the driver for his/her crew. Must be dependable and show up on time daily. Must be able to learn how to use and manage equipment safely, perform minor repairs, and be respectful towards customers, residents, and peers on all customer work sites. Duties and Responsibilities • Observes all safety requirements on the job, in company vehicles, and in use of equipment • Observes uniform standards and use of safety vests, hat or other equipment as appropriate to assigned projects. • In Maintenance – may perform the following tasks: mowing, edging, pruning, and other maintenance activities- also performs additional landscape maintenance duties to include but not limited to fertilizer application, weed control, spring clean-up, fall clean-up, or community event preparations • In Construction – may peform the following tasks: installing new plant material, stone masonry, prepping beds and drainage systems, mixing mortar, mulching beds, tree removal/replanting, and other activities • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including work site and equipment. • May operate mechanical equipment including but not limited to hand mower, riding mower, edger, and trimmer. May operate heavy equipment (tractor). • Notifies crew leader or project manager of routine and other maintenance repairs. • Performs routine equipment maintenance. • Handles all equipment responsibly to minimize damage • Drives company vehicle and trailer combination responsibility (select crew members) • Valid driver license/clean driving record • Ability to communicate effectively with crew leader/team • Notifies manager of customer or resident requests and concerns on a timely basis • May track/remind crew leader about needed supplies and deliveries • Manages supplies and basic equipment. Ensure routine equipment maintenance. • Works consistently and manages time well • Some English language capabilities ideal - but not required Qualifications • Punctual, reliable and able to work with others • Some prior work experience in outdoor trades (construction, arbor care, nursery, ranch, farm) preferred. • Interest in working in the landscape industry Working conditions This job operates in an outdoor setting 95%+ of the time. This role routinely uses landscape tools and equipment and may operate heavy equipment. Must adhere to uniform policy and use of safety equipment (glasses, vests, work boots) as appropriate to the job site. Physical requirements PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This employee may have to work long hours to complete special requests or meet deadlines. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., walk 4-5 miles on job sites when needed, and tolerate heat and cold extremes.
