Deep Cleaner / Household Generalist — 25-30 hrs a wk We are a small organic farm with home and farmstay apartment in Woodfin/Weaverville. We are looking for a long term cleaning person to join our team and grow with us. This position is a part time household generalist/deep cleaner. It requires the type of person who takes pride in cleaning and creating order while working mostly autonomously. Someone who does not mind moving from walking dogs to doing laundry to making lunch etc... You will have a partner to split the work with so you are not running solo as we've found it's also not the type of job one person can do alone. It can be physical and monotonous and also have anomalies. The best fit is someone adaptable who solves problems vs spending a lot of time identifying/avoiding implementing the solution. We like to call out that need sor flexible minds since not everyone knows how variable things on a farm can be. We are open for you to work 5 days a week M-F between the hours of 8am-5pm (you can make your own schedule within that frame). You can also change any time, provided you give notice the week before. This is a great job for an introverted perfectionist who is all about about creating order & doing detailed cleaning. Someone easygoing who welcomes feedback, does not take things personally & can maintain a gentle disposition. Most our team puts the headphones in and works from the list with usually one or two ad-hoc (unexpected items) a day. Please do know, you work from a list but at least 20% of the time there are surprise things happening whether its lambing season or the cleaners for the farmstay did an unacceptable job and you have to intervene to tidy up, there is often a change of plans which gives some variety to the work. The position begins immediately. The pay is $16 hr during training. Once you are proficient at the job you will move to $17 (usually around the 3rd month) and be evaluated annually for future wage adjustments. We provide all supplies. We pay for 30 minute lunchtime for anyone working 5 + hours in a day. You may break (off the clock) if you have personal business or want some quiet time. Your time is respected and we are flexible with employee work life balance. We respect those who respect others and we expect you to as well. For the 1st year Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday when we will be closed is paid time (6 hour day). You write your own schedule. You decide when you need breaks, time off etc... You will also receive a 20% discount on any organic farm goods. After one year service you may be allotted some PTO accrued 1 per month for the 1st however many months of the year and can be paid out at year end for those who save ivs use it. Amounts TBD (somewhere between 5-10 days). There will be some block out dates for events meaning if we have a class, party or event will as you to schedule PTO around those dates but the will be communicated well in advance. Essentials: - Must have your own reliable transportation. - Must be able to lift 50 lbs, healthy enough to work a physical job indoors and outdoors - Must supply 2 references with valid phone numbers from prior employers (no friends or family members please) - Must have previous cleaning experience - Must be able to pass background check (no felonies) - Organizational skills a plus - Kitchen Experience a plus Work consists of all manner of household cleaning and detailing (house, barn store, barn apt (has its own dedicated cleaner but occasionally needs extra boosting or as I mentioned fails to meet the mark and needs an intervention before guests arrive), dog walking, fish feeding, plant watering, mouse capture/release, window washing, laundry, maintaining a commercial kitchen, cleaning the fridges out weekly, organizing and maintaining spaces, identifying concerning issues, cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, flipping sheets. We work from a list 80% of the time and there are ad hoc items daily taking up the other 20% of your time. Ad-hoc items can be anything from cleaning up turkey poop, chopping garden goods, planting bulbs, making pickles. It’s not glamorous but it’s much appreciated, steady and we can be flexible to your schedule. Again, this position has a partner in clean who works 25-30 hours a week as well.
