Description

Oxymels are a simple and delicious way to extract herbs at home. These herbal preparations are traditionally taken to support immune and digestive system health. In this hands-on workshop, Clinical Herbalist Johnnie Heider-Kuhn will teach you how to infuse honey and apple cider vinegar with several locally-available herbs. Each student will take home a 4oz bottle of the finished product and a handout with instructions with a materia medica for the herbs you work with. Class includes a deep dive on 5 herbal allies that can be grown in the Front Range, along with the history on working with honey and vinegar as solvents to extract their therapeutic qualities. Local honey provided by our host, Savannah Bee Company! Special discount on mead and honey available to students. Johnnie Heider-Kuhn is the founder of Heart Alchemy Integrative Wellness, a dynamic healing arts and consultation service in Longmont, Colorado. A clinical herbalist, holistic nutritionist, and kambo practitioner who offers workshops on bioregional herbal medicine-making throughout the Front Range. Johnnie has eight years of experience in commercial botanical extraction, and currently sits on several committees with the American Herbal Products Association. He is a Program Coordinator at the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism, professional member of the American Botanical Council, and holds certificates in Permaculture Design and Corporate Social Responsibility.
