This two-day workshop will provide practical application of osteopathic structural examination and the use of osteopathic manipulative treatment in a variety of common clinical scenarios. We will start off with a review of Part 1, including the history and philosophy of Osteopathic Medicine, the physical examination skill of palpation, and the modalities of soft tissue technique, myofascial release, and lymphatic technique. We will also review the osteopathic screening evaluation of patients in the hospital and outpatient environments.
The program will then shift to clinical applications covering common issues encountered in the care of patients, including headache, pulmonary disease, gastrointestinal problems, and common musculoskeletal concerns related to the extremities. Participants will understand the rationale for using OMM and OMT, gain skill in the use of OMT in these scenarios, and build the knowledge and acumen needed for teaching and supervising residents performing these techniques.
MD's are by invitation only or need to have taken Part 1 to participate.
