The Sausalito – Cascais Sister City Council in conjunction with the Consul General of Portugal in San Francisco, The Camões Institute, and Fado at The Pines is please to present Marta Pereira da Costa in a special concert to celebrate Portugal’s Republic Day on October 5 at 6M at The Pines. Marta Pereira da Costa is the first and currently the only professional Fado guitarist worldwide. The Portuguese guitar is very closely associated with Fado, and Marta, not forgetting the roots and tradition, risked new sounds and sought to give voice to her instrument through the world of Jazz, World Music and Portuguese Music. Marta was honored in 2014 by the Amália Rodrigues Foundation in Portugal with the "Musician of the Year Award". She is currently on her first tour to the US since 2019. Friends of Fado at The Pines are being offered this free concert. Tickets are limited to 2/order. The doors at The Pines will open at 6PM. Lite Portuguese Petiscos will be served in the dining room. No-host wine and beer will be available on the terrace. This is the third in a series of Portuguese concerts we have been able to bring to Sausalito in conjunction with the Consul General and Camões . We are not allowed to charge for these concerts. Donations to support the Sausalito – Cascais Sister City Program will be appreciated.
