Description

Experience a world-class folkloric music and dance performance celebrating Puerto Rican culture in San Antonio. We are honored to bring Ballet Folklórico Sangre Viva, directly from Puerto Rico, to delight you with the island’s vibrant sounds and artistic treasures for an evening with a great purpose. This unique storytelling experience – Tres Culturas, Un Puerto Rico (Three Cultures, One Puerto Rico) is the origin story of Puerto Rican culture – a fusion of Taino, Spaniard, and African cultures. The ballet takes the audience on a journey through time by bringing to life the music, poetry, costumes, and dance of each group that influenced and enriched the island’s culture culminating in the world-class music and dance that we all know and love today. All proceeds from the Tres Culturas, Un Puerto Rico performance will support the annual distribution of $10,000 worth of scholarships to local high school graduates attending their first year of college. In addition, these proceeds support other cultural outreach programs of the organization, including the Puerto Rican Festival and the Three Kings Day Celebration. 17 Person dance ensemble from Puerto RicoLive musiciansLive poetryFree parkingAbout Us: Sociedad Herencia Puertorriqueña (SHP) is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization founded in 1984, in San Antonio, with the objective of promoting and maintaining the Puerto Rican culture and traditions alive in the city.
