Junior Tradesman Job Description A junior tradesman directly reports to the jobsite foreman or superintendent and is responsible for completing trade specific tasks on a jobsite as instructed. A junior tradesman may be responsible for one to two different trades of work. This may include any combination of the following: welding, pipefitting, plumbing, millwork, rigging or other related construction trade. Responsibilities • Perform trade specific tasks as directed by the foreman or superintendent which may include any of the following trades: welding, millwright work, pipefitting, plumbing, rigging or other general construction trades. • Read blueprints and drawings as necessary to complete work. • Plan work to be able to complete tasks punctually and with little supervision. • Adhere to all PPE standards set forth by the law and the company. • Observe and execute all health and safety standards. • Communicate with co-workers and foreman effectively in both written and verbal forms. • Attend safety meetings weekly and safety trainings as deemed necessary by the foreman or management. • Assist senior tradesman with completion of their work as needed. • Work with apprentices and delegate tasks to them to assist in punctual completion in work. • Continue to develop and hone skills of existing learned trades. • Begin to develop minor skills of new trades to broaden skillset. • Coach and teach apprentices regularly. • Accurately track time worked for each job including details of the work conducted daily. • Submit all timesheets weekly via company supplied time tracking methods. • Attend regular reviews with management to plan, measure, and ensure growth. Qualifications • 1 year of experience in one or two of the following trades: welding, plumbing, pipefitting, millwork, or rigging. • 1-2 years of experience in industrial construction. • Must be able to read blueprints and drawings. • Be punctual and ready to work when reporting to each shift. • Able and willing to travel to various job locations. • Be coachable and teachable. • Able to communicate clearly and concisely • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as deemed necessary by management. • Able to move and work in a physically demanding environment. • Relevant trade certifications or education, i.e. welding certs or vocational school. • Strong sense of responsibility and initiative.
