Local Hero Inc. is having its first seasonal event raising money for the Fire Fighters Burn institute. The goal for this event is to raise $10,000 to help The Firefighters Burn Institute fund a variety of programs for burn survivors and Firefighters. Burn injuries frequently require a lifetime of rehabilitation and medical treatment. Everything from medical treatments to emotional wellbeing, the Firefighters Burn Institute is there to assist those that have been burned. The Firefighters Burn Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded by Sacramento Fire Captain Cliff Haskell and the Sacramento Area Fire Fighters Local 522 in 1973, for the purpose of establishing a local burn treatment facility; providing recovery programs for burn survivors; providing fire and burn prevention through public education; funding education for burn team professionals, firefighters, and burn survivors; and supporting burn treatment and rehabilitation research.
