Description
Come along on nearly any Saturday with a locally based expert and author to explore the endlessly fascinating history, archaeology, architecture, art and ecology of the Presidio in San Francisco, an absolute gem located in this world class city. You'll have the advantage of an experienced guide who knows intimately the trails within this former military base deliberately designed to be confusing for defense purposes. We will begin at the Arguello Gate and proceed down toward Crissy Field and then complete the tour at the Main Parade Grounds to avail yourselves, if desiring, to then explore the many museums, a visitor center, chapels, memorials and dine at one of the gourmet restaurants. A place hosting hundreds of years of American history and far longer, and the oldest building in San Francisco, the Presidio remains of vital interest to those wishing to know more about this city and its history, natural, social and military. Come away having both learned and enjoyed, a rarified pleasure for anybody interested in the vastly important role this city and the Presidio have played in the founding of America. I hope to provide a compelling experience that all who walk along with me will find not only pleasantly surprising but educational in important and entertaining ways, touching on history from a woman many consider to be the mother of San Francisco all the way to the first transcontinental flight and far beyond. This location holds not only great importance but significant mystery often lost to the distances of time and place. Beginning with the tour on July 9th 2022 each tour participant will receive a signed custom made limited edition collectable complimentary 5" x 7" postcard and optional stamp to send to friends or family back home, or keep as a memento, with images of the Presidio from past to present and a space for a personal or group photograph taken at a tour location of your choice printed instantly and pasted onto the front and a poem printed on the letter side.
