For summer 2022, the Nevada City Film Festival (NCFF) presents Movies Under the Pines, an outdoor cinema experience for the entire family, Fridays, August 12 & 26, at the Pioneer Park Bandshell in Nevada City. Friday, August 12 - Almost Famous - Set in 1973, it chronicles the funny and often poignant coming of age of 15-year-old William, an unabashed music fan who is inspired by the seminal bands of the time. When his love of music lands him an assignment from Rolling Stone magazine to interview the up-and-coming band Stillwater -- fronted by lead guitarist Russell Hammond and lead singer Jeff Bebe William embarks on an eye-opening journey with the band's tour, despite the objections of his protective mother. Directed by Cameron Crowe (R 2000 Comedy/Drama 2hr 2min) "A blissfully sweet coming-of-age movie in which everyone, young and less young, comes of age." - New York Magazine "The movie's so clever and endearing, you can forget the almost." - Time Magazine The film festival brings in state of the art projection and sound to create an outdoor movie theatre on the grass at Pioneer Park. Beer, wine, popcorn, and soft drinks are available for purchase. Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks allowed. Outside alcoholic beverages prohibited. Blankets and low back chairs are suggested. Come early to picnic with your family and enjoy lawn games at 7:30pm or show up when the films start at sunset (around 8:00pm). Every spot in the park is a good one with our 32-foot outdoor screen. Tickets $8/Per Person or $30/Per Family (four people).
