Since the 1860s, Mtn. View has benefitted from the presence of civic organizations working to build community and serve those in need. To help us celebrate our long-awaited return to the historic Adobe Building, we’ve invited some of these stalwart organizations to join us at our second annual ice cream social. Representatives from each organization will share their history while we enjoy ice cream in the beautiful Adobe hall. Registration is free but those who want ice cream (or just want to support the MVHA!) can purchase ice cream tickets for $5 via eventbrite. We hope to see you at the Adobe!
About the Adobe Building: The historic Mountain View Adobe Building was built in 1934 as a New Deal Civic Works Administration project during the Great Depression. It served as Mountain View's first publicly-owned community center, hosting countless gatherings, dances, celebrations, meetings, and classes for generations of Mountain View residents. The Adobe is the traditional home of the MVHA's quarterly meetings/events and our organization led the "Save the Adobe" campaign in the late 1990s which supported the building's full restoration in 2001. The COVID-19 pandemic has kept us away from the Adobe for over two years, and we are excited to return!
